On Wednesday lunchtime there was the usual (free) weekly concert in a venue at the Nation al Museum. We have already been to about 3 of these concerts, but this one would have to be the best. Being Easter week, there was a choral presentation of Stabat Mater, and 3 other religious works. Most of the singers were young, some would have been only 7 or 8, but the conductor kept them from wriggling. There was a soprano and a mezzo soprano as well, and two angelic little girls holding out sheets of paper with the words (in Latin and Spanish). The singing was quite lovely, and when the conductor sang with the choir in a rich tenor there would have been a lot of moist eyes in the audience. To find out about these concerts, exhibitions etc find a copy of the paper Ciudad Viva. However Ciudad Viva gives only a selection of what is on, and you will need to read the newspaper, scan notice boards and generally be a detective to find all the possibilities. We had been hoping to go to a performance by the Philharmonic Orchestra, but it was sold out. No wonder, it was only 6000 pesos. So instead we headed to an arthouse cinema for an Iranian film (no doubt with subtitles in Spanish). Alas, it was not on, nor were staff sure if or when it would ...
