Description: On the 15th February 2008, several tens of Persian-speakers gathered in front of the Afghanistan Embassy in London to protest against the decision made by the Afghanistani Culture Minister to chastise a local journalist for using Persian words in his report. The protest was organised by the Social Organization of Afghanistan and Asia in London.
A few days earlier, Abdul Karim Khurram, the Afghanistani Minister of Information and Culture said that the journalist's salary would be cut for a number of days because he had used Persian equivalents of Pashto words for 'university' , 'faculty' and 'students'. The journalist, Baser Babai believes that he has the right to use his native language on TV.
