Now Playing:9-11 Phone Calls From The Towers | Thursday 16 September, 8.30pm ABC1
Description: On September 11, 2001, nearly 3000 families lost a loved one when terrorists flew two hijacked planes into the twin towers in New York. Trapped inside the towers many people tried to make desperate contact with the outside world. Some were able to speak on the phone. Others could only leave messages. Since that day families have lived with the memory of these final words from their loved ones. These recordings shed light on what really happened inside the towers - but they also reveal something more profound - about the choices people make in their final moments - who to turn to and what to say. Dignified and full of love, they show humanity at its best and most courageous.
