Description: Japan Meltdown Earlier CCTV spoke to nuclear security analyst, Lin Chengge. He says it will still take time before it is possible to tell whether recent efforts to cool the reactor have been successful, and only then can future actions be planned. He said, "The Tokyo Electric Company was ready on Wednesday evening to dump sea water on the crippled No.3 reactor at the Fukushima No.1 power plant by helicopters. But for the high level of radiation above the reactor and poor weather condition, the operation hasn't been carried out until Thursday morning. Through 4 times of water dumping, large amounts of water is spread away before it is poured into the No.3 reactor. Tokyo electric Company is still evaluating how much water have been successfully poured into the reactor. The health condition of pilots on helicopter also needs to be tested although precautions were taken during the operation. These result are crucial to further operations. It will take nearly 200 times of flights to fill up the fuel storage pool in No.3 reactor, which is as large as 4 swimming pools. Whether the dumping operation will be continued or adopted to other reactors will on large scale depend on the result of the evaluations." Information provided by cctv.com Thank you www.cctv.com http
