H$U$ has (or had) a program that is/was intended to help local organizations deal with the influx of pets during this economic crisis due to home foreclosures. Apparently, less than $30,000 of H$U$ money went to this fund (even though they sit on over $100 million!), and they did fund-raising to build it, of course by telling donors it supports local groups. First of all, tell me how only $30,000 going to help local shelters across the country?! Supposedly, little of that money was ever distributed and was probably absorbed into other programs (even though it was raised for local rescue groups!). They love to take credit for the work of local groups and raise money on their backs. So this is what H$U$ does with donations. The stories are endless. They spent almost $4 million alone on travel expenses one year! Is that so their execs could go first class? I would not, however, trust the Center for Consumer Freedom - their information is, in general, correct, but the CCF is a shady "non-profit" that caters to Big Business. There needs to be a larger investigation into H$U$...somehow they always seem to wiggle their way out of them (no doubt by paying people off with donor dollars).
This is not an expose! It's been going on for decades. Anyone who's worked at a shelter can tell you that. We'd put the word out all the time when I worked at a local shelter.
How anyone could not know this anymore is beyond my comprehension.
